The Caledonian reinterprets the language of Spanish Revival through a contemporary lens. Plastered openings and finely detailed ironwork are abstracted into a light, layered framework that shapes the dining room into a series of intimate yet connected spaces. Each zone feels distinct, while the room as a whole remains visually open and alive with energy.
At its center, a luminous bar anchors the experience. A suspended canopy of fine mesh and dark steel hovers above, glowing softly and drawing guests inward. This central volume acts as both lantern and gathering point—defining the space while reinforcing a sense of lightness and permeability.
The palette is rooted in the landscape of Pacific Grove. Soft greens and muted yellows echo the surrounding flora, while warm, sandy tones recall the nearby coastline. These materials—textured tile, warm woods, and soft upholstery—create an atmosphere that feels both grounded and airy.
Greenery is woven throughout as an architectural layer. Suspended planting and integrated planters soften the structure, introducing movement and depth. Beneath these canopies, seating unfolds in moments of quiet intimacy, balanced by the collective energy of the room.
The result is a space that feels at once familiar and refined—where tradition and modernity meet in a calm, convivial rhythm shaped by light, material, and place.
