Perched on a dramatic outcropping of rock overlooking the turquoise waters of Anguilla, Salt is the signature restaurant at the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Anguilla. Farouki Farouki was commissioned to undertake a complete transformation of the existing space, reimagining it as a destination with a profound sense of place. Over time, the existing space lacked warmth and connection to its extraordinary setting; the redesign introduces texture, depth, and narrative.
Layered plantings, flowing drapery, and curated artwork create intimate zones within the open-air plan, softening the architecture and framing views of sea and sky. A material palette inspired by the island’s rust and cream-toned limestone contrasts vividly with the surrounding turquoise water, grounding the space in its landscape. Custom furnishings and sculptural light fixtures draw from Anguilla’s weaving traditions and carved wood craftsmanship, infusing the restaurant with authenticity and tactile richness.
At the heart of the design is a dynamic millwork installation that allows the restaurant to transform seamlessly throughout the day. By morning, it opens to reveal an expansive buffet kitchen; by evening, it closes to unveil a striking mural depicting Anguilla’s salt harvesting heritage. Cast glass lighting elements further echo this story, shimmering softly as daylight fades. Through materiality, artistry, and thoughtful spatial choreography, Salt evolves effortlessly from a vibrant breakfast setting to an elegant fine dining experience — a celebration of island culture framed by sea and stone.
